| [10/05/2008] - Team Slipstream - Chipotle takes the team time trial at Giro d'Italia |
| Tour of Italy, the first of the great tours series, began today with a team time trial over 23, 6 kilometres at Palermo, Sicily. The US Team Slipstream - Chipotle rode the best time in 26'32", six seconds better than both Team CSC and High Road. Robbie's Silence-Lotto team took 21st in 27'50". The American rider Christian Vandevelde was the first of the Slipstream team to cross the line, he will thus wear the "maglia rosa" tomorrow. |
| [03/05/2008] - Super stage win by Francesco De Bonis in Romandie |
| Last but one stage of Tour de Romandie linked Sion to Zinal over 111 mountainous kilometres, including four 1st category cols and the final ascent to Zinal. Ten riders attacked early and the gap reached up to 2'. In the final, the Italian Francesco De Bonis attacked alone, and began the final ascent into Zinal, while the peloton reacted strongly. In the final phase, some twenty riders kept a chance to win the stage. But only Gadret and Beltran were able to reach De Bonis. The young Italian resisted and won in extremis ahead of John Gadret (FdJeux) and Manuel Beltran (Liquigas). Robbie finished in the bus and was classified 105th. Andres Klöden, 6th today, keeps the leader's jersey. Thomas Dekker diasspears, 2nd is now Czech Roman Kreuziger (Liquigas) at 35”. |

| Next stage in the Tour of Romandie was an individual time trial over 19 km around Sion, with a 200 metres high hill about half way. It was a double shot for the German rider Andreas Klöden (Astana) who clocked 25'32", six seconds faster than Thomas Dekker (Rabobank). Another Dutch rider, Stef Clement (Bouygues Telecom), took 3rd 20" down. Robbie finished 134th. Klöden is now the general leader, followed by Thomas Dekker at 5". |
