Stage four at Tour de Suisse, between Niederbipp and La Chaux-de-Fonds, distance 151 km. Same scenery as yesterday: mostly hilly, with two 3rd category climbs on the way.
It was a very animated stage, with several attacks. In the final, a group of some 70 wheels remained in front.
The group remained intact in the last 3rd category ascent, heralding a pack sprint. However, with 7 kilometres to go, two Spaniards, David Herrero (Euskatel) and Angel Vicioso (Würth) attacked and gained a few seconds on the pack.
Angel Vicioso won the stage, followed by David Herrero. Daniele Bennati (Ita, Lampre) won the sprint of the group. Nick Nuyens remains leader of the general classification. |
